SATURDAY MORNING and the sun is already turned up a few notches as I arrive in Leatherhead to take part in the Surrey Hills Community Radio 3rd Birthday Marathon! not a running marathon you understand - a 36 hour back to back radio show marathon featuring past and present presenters (there are lots of present presenters now) My old Sidekick, Dave Smith and I regurgitated the 'Dave and Andy Breakfast Show' - one of the first regular shows the station had to offer and so kicked off the Marathon with a fair helping of inane drivel, mickey taking and some innuendo thrown in to spice things up a bit. Having moved away from the area and unable to play an active part in the station now it was great for me to see how far the team had come - 2 wholesome studio rooms, heaps of great shows and a great spirit between them all. It was good bantering with Dave again - I do miss the old bugger!
Then it was off to Ashtead Village Day to photograph the HIgh Sheriff and MVDC Chairman meeting stallholders, charities and officially opening the proceedings - the weather was amazing and soon I was red as a pillar box however I could not moan as the poor High Sheriff was decked out in his official uniform for the occasion which featured a lot of velvet! Well done to Ashtead Rotary Club for once again putting on a fabulous show which was packed to the rafters! It was a fantastic day and I am sure the charities and businesses involved found it very worthwhile.
